Tiki Torches Are a Great Way to Accent Your Patio Design - April 19, 2011

Hi all. I know we've been posting mainly on the topic of fire pits, fire pit safety and how propane or natural gas beats wood burning, but today I want to explore another great way to accent your outdoor entertainment space; tiki torches.

Tiki Torches are a great way to accent your patio or garden if you don't have a lot of space or the money to invest in a fire pit. Tiki torches can create a festive tropical feel to your garden or patio and are easy to maintain. What better way to bring an island feel when entertaining friends and family than with the flame of a Caribbean tiki torch? Pop in a little reggae on the stereo, throw some salmon on the BBQ, top it with mango salsa and serve up some fruity cocktails with an umbrella, and viola! It's a dance party!

Not only are tiki torches a fantastic way to lively up the atmosphere of a party, but they can really enhance your outdoor landscape overall. The nice thing about tiki torches is that they are smaller in size, so you can place several of them around your garden or patio to create larger ambiance by reflecting light off of plants, trees, or other features in your backyard. Rather than just having one main fire feature, such as a hearth or fire table as your centerpiece for entertaining, multiple tiki torches can brighten up the entire space. Tiki torches can also be utilized to line and light up sidewalks or walkways. They look good and create a safer environment as well.

Gas tiki torches are also a great way to conserve fuel, go green and help mother nature by burning cleaner natural gas as opposed to wood or other fuels. You won't have to worry about sparks or embers flying into the air as you would with wood burning devices, and there is no clean up afterward.

Speaking of going green, another fantastic way to bring a touch of paradise to your garden or patio, is the use of plants. Lots and lots of plants. Heavy planting of flora and fauna can bring a natural feel to an otherwise concrete jungle environment. That, and the release of carbon dioxide is great for the environment.

So there are some ideas for you to chew on (between chewing on salmon topped with mango salsa, yum) to enhance the lighting scenario in your backyard or patio.
