Fall Landscaping Calls for Color - Plant These Trees & Shrubs Now! - October 4, 2011Landscaping for the fall is a great way to bring life to your lawn and garden even while mother nature is preparing herself for a wintery slumber. There is no better way to capture the essence of fall than by including certain trees and shrubs that burst with color and texture.
I found an article which highlights a number of these colorful options and has some good insights on how to increase the amount of color you get out of your landscape design.
Mass shrubbery. Don't just plant one or two color producing shrubs, plant nine or ten! With shrubs, the more the merrier and certain shrubs produce berries that provide vibrant colors and texture within the landscape design. Be sure the majority planted are females which produce the berries and be sure to include one male for reproductive purposes.
Also, think about the texture of the different trees and shrubs when standing at a distance from them. Notice how golden leaves will stand out against red as well as the green from Evergreen Trees or Douglas Firs. By staggering your planting, you will create depth and texture that really gives it a pop. By layering the trees from front to back and side to side, you will give your garden the illusion that it is larger than it actually is.
Here are some trees and shrubs that will provide you will some brilliant color and texture: Trees
Shrubs
