Step 1

step by step installation of fire pits

After hearth is built confirm sufficient drainage is in place to remove any water that could drain down from the pan through the drain tube. Either under the patio as shown or through the bottom of the hearth pedestal. Using minimum ½” drain port even with the patio.

Step 2

step by step installation of fire pits

Cover the ground bottom with gravel or small rocks for under patio drainage if not built on concrete patio. For a natural gas hook up make sure the gas line is plumbed in ¾” pipe. Set cinder blocks on the ground for the pan to set on. Note: The tubes on the bottom of the pan are not legs. The plastic pipe is a drainage spout and the metal tubes are control panel support arms.

Step 3

step by step installation of fire pits

Place pan on cinder blocks at a level at least 3½” minimum below the hearth top for a 24” system. For the 30” system place 2 ½” minimum from the hearth top and for the 36” system place at 2” below the hearth top. This will allow ½” clearance from the top of the pan to the top of your hearth. Adjust as desired.

  • Step 4

step by step installation of fire pits

Take the system out of the box and attach the gas line to the gas valve at the bottom of the system.

    Step 5

step by step installation of fire pits

Turn the system on to test that it is functioning correctly before placing it in the hearth.

    Step 6

step by step installation of fire pits

Place the system in the hearth and spread out half of the lava rocks on the bottom of the pan. Be sure not to cover up any of the gas jets. This will block the flame and cause it to be low or nonexistent.

    Step 7

step by step installation of fire pits

If a log kit was purchased open the logs box and place the logs on the lava rock as shown in the photos below making sure not to bump or cover the ignition or gas jets. If the log kit was not purchased go to step 10.

    Step 8

step by step installation of fire pits

Place the logs stacking them as shown below to get the maximum output of flame.

    Note

step by step installation of fire pits

Note: The logs are stacked in campfire style giving space for air flow between the logs.

    Step 9

step by step installation of fire pits

The logs in the box will be the same shape as the logs shown here. It is suggested that you place the same logs in the same positions as shown.

    Note

step by step installation of fire pits

Note: The small log kit has 7 logs. The Medium log kit has 9 logs and the large log kit has 14 logs. The photos in this manual show placement of the 7 piece log kit.

    Step 10

step by step installation of fire pits

Spread out the remaining amount of the lava rock around the logs. Note: Lava rock will leave some dust around after removing it from the bag. This dust can be swept up off the hearth.

If Ignition Becomes Bent: Step 1

step by step installation of fire pits

To fix the bent ignition as shown here pliers are needed. Note: If the ignition becomes bent while assembling the logs and lava rock this can be fixed. If the ignition is not fixed it may not light correctly.

    Step 2

step by step installation of fire pits

Gently with the pliers bend the ignition wire so it points straight towards the pilot. When lit there should be an arch of spark between the wire and the ignition.

    Step 3

step by step installation of fire pits

Make sure the wire pointing up next to the ignition is directly under the sparking wire 3/16” for connection. If not, this could be the cause of the system not lighting.
